Once, over 250.000 Jews lived in the area of Łódź – the biggest industrial city in pre-war Poland. During that tour we will explore that region and trace its Jewish legacy.

From Warsaw we will drive to Płock – the town inhabited by Jews since the 13th century. Our first step will be the Museum of Mazovian Jews. Then we will go to a local art gallery where a mikveh used to be located. Next we will go to a Jewish Cemetery – the place of burial since 1845. Finally, we will go around the part of Płock that was a ghetto during WWII. In the afternoon a 1,5-hour drive will take us to Łódź.
We will spend the whole day in Łódź – the biggest Polish industrial city not only before 1939 but also during the war. We will start the tour with the visit to the Izrael Poznański Palace. Next we will stroll along the famous Piotrkowska Street, and come to the only synagogue that survived till present times. Our next stop will be the Marek Edelman Dialogue Centre. Visiting the State Archive to enrich your genealogical knowledge would also be possible .
We will continue our tour of Łódź by going to the biggest in Europe Jewish Cemetery and then focus on the Litzmannstadt Ghetto. Then we will have short visits in Łask and Zgierz to see the remains of Jewish sites and memorial places. Finally, we will go to Bełchatów where two plaques commemorate a synagogue demolished in 1956 and a first Jewish cemetery can be seen. We will go back to Łódź for an overnight stay.
After the breakfast in Łódź we will go to Piotrków Trybunalski. We will go to a local library located in a former synagogue. Next to it there used to be beth midrash and some original paintings and bullet holes can be still seen. Next we will go around the part of the town that used to be a Jewish ghetto – the first one in occupied Europe. After lunch, we will see well preserved Jewish cemetery and start our journey back to Warsaw.
